The Product and team

Join the international team that develops the leading cloud-based Healthcare Practice Information System used by professionals across Switzerland. The product helps medical practices streamline administrative and clinical workflows and connect with digital healthcare services.

As part of the curaMED Tech Stack Modernization project, you will help modernize a large, business-critical healthcare platform. Throughout this transformation, the platform will continue to serve thousands of users and receive regular feature releases. The future platform will use a modern, cloud-native technology stack built on Java, Spring Boot, Azure, Angular, modern DevOps practices, and Hexagonal Architecture. AI-assisted engineering is embedded in our daily work: we use GitHub Copilot and agentic coding tools to understand legacy code, generate tests, and accelerate delivery.

We are expanding our engineering team and are looking for experienced Backend Developers to join us through Webtiser Spain from October 2026 for a project engagement of approximately 18 months, with the potential for further longer-term opportunities in the future.

You will work closely with software architects, backend and frontend engineers, business analysts, testers, product managers, and healthcare domain experts. Together, we are building the next generation of one of Switzerland’s leading healthcare software solutions.

Your role

As a Senior Backend Developer, you will play a key role in a team, that drives the modernization of curaMED's backend platform and business services.

You will design and implement scalable backend solutions within a predefined Hexagonal Architecture, ensuring that business capabilities remain clearly separated from technical concerns and can evolve independently over time.

You will contribute to architecture discussions, software design decisions, and engineering standards while helping ensure high quality, maintainability, and operational excellence across the platform.

You will:

• Design, develop, and evolve backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Implement software components aligned with Hexagonal Architecture principles.
• Contribute to architecture reviews, technical discussions, and software design decisions.
• Build scalable, maintainable, secure, and testable backend services.
• Design and implement REST APIs and service integrations.
• Collaborate closely with frontend developers, architects, business analysts, and testers.
• Ensure high code quality through reviews, automated testing, and engineering best practices.
• Promote non-functional requirements such as security, performance, scalability, reliability, and observability.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.
• Use AI-assisted software engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot and similar technologies effectively to improve productivity, code quality, and delivery speed.
• Participate actively in sprint planning, estimations, architecture reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support reliable and frequent production releases in a mission-critical healthcare environment.

Tech skills

Mandatory

• 5+ years of professional backend software development experience.
• Extensive experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Strong experience designing and developing enterprise-grade web applications and backend services.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented design and software architecture principles.
• Extensive experience designing and implementing REST APIs.
• Good understanding of enterprise integration patterns and distributed systems.
• Proofed Experience with relational databases and SQL.
• Proofed Experience writing automated unit, integration, and acceptance tests.
• Proofed Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Experience applying modern security principles for web applications and APIs.
• Good understanding of non-functional requirements such as security, performance, reliability, availability, scalability, and maintainability.
• Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot or similar) as part of daily engineering work.

Preferred

• Experience working with Hexagonal Architecture, Clean Architecture, or similar architectural approaches.
• Experience with cloud-native applications and Azure Cloud.
• Experience with container technologies and Kubernetes.
• Experience with application modernization and migration initiatives.
• Experience in healthcare software, medical information systems, ERP, CRM, or other complex business applications.
